LEADERS OF TOMORROW

Program Origin

The Leaders of Tomorrow Program was launched at the NBMBAA Annual Conference in New York in September, 1991. This program was developed in response to the need for mentoring and nurturing minority high school students who demonstrate leadership talents but require additional motivational factors in their life for those talents to emerge.

Mission Statement/Program Objective

To expand the cadre of future minority students who enter college.
The NBMBAA Leaders of Tomorrowsm Program aims to provide mentors and resources to marginally academic performing high school students who have leadership potential but need exposure and motivation in order to make good choices about college, their career and their future. Targeted students include inner-city high school youth with a grade point average between C- and C+ who have demonstrated leadership potential.

Major activities include the sponsorship, attendance and participation of over 100 students at the NBMBAA Annual Conference & Exposition, providing professionals to serve as positive role models and mentors to these students year round; participants in tours of historically Black colleges; and scholarship awards.
